Conference Workshop- Register NOW!

This year’s Activities, Activities, Activities workshop on the 5th of October, the day before the 2-day Brisbane 2017 DRTA Conference is set to be the best one yet. The Workshop gives you the opportunity to get some very practical experience and ideas to take back with you to your workplace. July was a busy month with Cognitive Stimulation Therapy workshops in both Brisbane and Melbourne. The general professional development workshop in Wollongong/ Woonona on the 30th June was also a great success- see the write ups below with a special thanks to Chris Grady from Regis Victoria who has done a Newsletter write up of his perspective of the CST Melbourne training so you can get an outside view into what to expect from the day.

Our Adelaide SA CST training on the 4th of August is open for registration and we have also added a CST training in Hamilton VIC on Friday 25th of August followed by a general Professional Development workshop on Monday the 28th of August. These workshops are all on line and open for registrations now.

Our Cognitive Stimulation Therapy training is now in full swing with the proposed workshops up on the website. Check out the list at http://diversionaltherapy.org.au/Event-Calendar for the workshop that works best for you. We are limiting numbers so register early and as members you get the first opportunity to attend and learn this evidence based practice that benefits  not only our residents and clients with mild to moderate dementia but looks at the benefits for everyone of staying cognitively and socially active. You can also continue to register your interest by going through the DRTA website, clicking on the CST Training tab and completing your details. 

If you have several DT’s, Leisure and Lifestyle staff, RAOs or assistants across your facility or facilities that may like to learn this therapy and its implementation to people with Mild to Moderate dementia then we also have facility rates available for up to 18 people at each training. We were in Ulverstone Tasmania on the 4th with a fantastic line up of diverse presenters and our Melbourne workshop on the 24th of March was only a few days ago, and was also a great day of diversity, networking and exchanging of ideas and learning and getting out of our comfort zones!
