Wow what a great month May was and for that matter April as well! See the write up below for the Brisbane and Dubbo workshops with some great photos. Thanks to all those that make the workshops a successful learning experience ensuring each participant takes away some great professional development and enjoying the opportunity to network with others exchanging vital activity ideas and experiences. As the surveys contest these workshops offer relevant and diverse topics that relate specifically to the Leisure and Lifestyle industry. We are so excited to be launching our National training sessions for Cognitive Stimulation Therapy with the proposed workshop list for 2017 being updated to include the Cognitive Stimulation Therapy Master Training Class programs. Check out the list on line and pencil in a workshop near you. You can also continue to register your interest by going on line through the DRTA website, click on the CST Training tab at the top and complete your details. If you have several DT’s, Leisure and Lifestyle staff, RAOs or assistants at your facility that may like to learn this therapy and its implementation to people with Mild to Moderate dementia then contact the DRTA office or email me directly at email@example.com to discuss bringing the training to your workplace.

What a great month March was!!
We were in Ulverstone Tasmania on the 4th with a fantastic line up of diverse presenters and our Melbourne workshop on the 24th of March was only a few days ago, and was also a great day of diversity, networking and exchanging of ideas and learning and getting out of our comfort zones! Since our last Newsletter DTA have had a number of workshops Cairns, Port Macquarie, Warrnambool and the Gold Coast and of course our exciting conference workshop on the 6th of October. What a lovely group of Leisure and Lifestyle staff attended our Cairns workshop on the 29th of July and our Port Macquarie workshop on the 19th of August.
Taking Professional Development to Regional Areas means that you don’t have to travel as far as you may have had to, to receive vital information to assist you in your role. (One attendee at our Port Macquarie workshop still travelled 600Km’s to get there though!!)

With our Cairns workshop a week away from when I am writing this update we have had a relatively quiet month for the DTA workshops around the country. (Look out for the Cairns report in our next newsletter).
Things are set to warm up though with requests for workshops specifically designed for leisure and lifestyle staff being rolled out with a number of facilities taking up the educational opportunities of a workshop built around their specific needs, being planned. If your facility has a number of leisure and lifestyle staff, why not propose to them this great learning opportunity addressing the specific interest and needs of your team and which can work out at a substantial financial saving making the training even more worthwhile.
