Hi Members,

August is already upon us. And you are anything like me, you are wondering just where the year has gone. The Board has been hard at work to improve the associations for all the members.

One area that has been a major focus is marketing. Victorian State Rep Daniel Grey has taken on the task of leading the marketing team. Daniel has been liaising with 180 Degrees Consultancy to improve how the association connects with its members and the public via the website and social media platforms. 180 Degrees completed a review and supplied recommendations on changes that can be made. You have already seen some of the recommendations implemented, such as updating and streamlining the renewal process and increasing the renewals options. Over the coming months, you may see some further changes to the website and social media accounts as we continue to make

Hi Members,

Winter has arrived and I hope everyone is staying warm. This weather always makes me want to snuggle up on the couch with a good book or movie. What is everybody’s favourite winter activity?

As it is now July (and I am left to ponder where the last 6 months went...), it’s the start of a new financial year and time to renew your membership. With recent updates to the website, allowing you to do it all online, renewing is easier than ever. There is the added option of paying for 1 or 2 years and updating all your details online. Just fill in the PD points summary, scan and email to Diana in the office and you are all done. Remember to keep the evidence of your PD points. In case your name is selected at random for the audit.

Conference planning is in full swing and is shaping up to be a

As we leave summer behind us, Northern NSW and Queensland have been experiencing extreme weather the last couple of weeks. My thoughts go out to those members and their families that have been effected by Cyclone Debbie and the flooding. The board hopes all members stay safe during this difficult time.

With May just around the corner, preparations for Diversional and Recreation Therapy Week are in full swing. This years DRT Week will be held from 8th to 14th May and the theme is Innovation and Expectation. New resources will be added to the website in the coming weeks, so please keep an eye out for these. It would be wonderful to see all the different ways our members celebrate, so please consider submitting an article for future newsletters. And also earn PD points!

The board and office have been in full swing planning and organising this year’s conference. This year it will be held at the beautiful

Hi Members,

Well, here we find ourselves in March and there is a lot to report on this month, so many great initiatives in the works. It is shaping up to be a very exciting year ahead.

After lots of discussion, the board has decided to take the next step in moving the association forward. We are changing the name, and will now be known as Diversional and Recreation Therapy Australia. Or DRTA. We want all our members and colleagues who work in the leisure and recreation field, identifying with either Diversional Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation to feel included and welcomed in the association. Over the coming weeks you will

Good evening everyone.

I’d like to take this opportunity to reflect on the last 12 months and to share with you some of the key highlights.

Several years ago, the Board made the decision to create an Executive Officer role, specifically designed to support strategic growth and development.  This role has taken DTA into a new realm, with a focus on strategic and business planning. This planning has been the basis of everything the Board and DTA office have undertaken. As a result, DTA has been able to offer some new
