Hi Members,

As we move further into autumn, I find it refreshing to have the weather finally start to cool down. I love the autumn days of beautiful sunny days and crisp cool mornings and evening. There is lots happening this month to keep us all busy with Easter and ANZAC day just around the corner.

You may remember last conference we had Anne and Robin visit from NCTRC (National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification) in the US. We made the announcement that we would be introducing credentialing here through the DRTA. I had lots of members tell me how excited they were with us going down the credentialing path furthering our profession both nationally and internationally. The board has been working hard over the months to continue to build the DRTA’s relationship with the NCTRC and we now have a MOU in place. You know will be able to apply for credentialing with the NCTRC. There isn’t much more information at the present. We are still working out all

Hi Members,

I can hardly believe it is already March. Summer has come and gone, and autumn has arrived. Although you wouldn’t think so with all the warm days we are still having in Sydney. The board have been hard at work already (but don’t worry I did give them a break over the holidays!) to make this a great year for the DRTA. There is lots happening so stay tuned for all the updates!

After our AGM last September, some members approached the board about stepping in and filling the vacant board positions. After a unanimous vote by the board, we welcome the following members to the board. Kayla Davies – Vic State Representative, Janine Warne – NSW State Representative and Leah Sullivan – Qld State Representative. All 3 bring a wealth

Hi Members,

August has arrived and we are now in the home stretch towards the end of winter. Last month we asked you to complete a survey to assist in our further response to the Draft Aged Care Standards. Kim and I would like to thank all those who took the time to complete and return the surveys. Your input is valuable, and much need to ensure that our voice is heard.

The focus for this month is self-education and lifelong learning. Nelson Mandela once said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can

Hi Members,

I want to apologise for not having a newsletter last month. The system we use to create the newsletter was updated and there was a delay between the old system going off line and being trained in using the new system. Hopefully we have all kinks worked out and will all be running smoothly. The articles were uploaded to the website, so please don’t forget to check the website for any updates throughout the month.

I can hardly believe we are already halfway through the year. July is here and so is the start of a new financial year. And that means membership renewals are due, along with your 15 Professional Development points. Remember to have those PD points handy in case you are one of the

Hi Members,

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing holiday period, and are all refreshed for the exciting year ahead. The board has already been hard at work, holding the first board meeting of the year last week. Busy making plans for 2018 (and beyond).

With the New Year, comes a new calendar of events. Steph, the DRTA education co-ordinator has been busy planning the years workshops and training events. We kick off the years education calendar with the “Access to Leisure” workshop being held in Ryde, NSW on February 6. This workshop is designed for those working in disabilities, rehab and mental health. The DRTA will also be continuing to provide CST training this year. Please visit the events tab on the DRTA website for more

Hi members,

It’s hard to believe that December is already upon us and Christmas is just around the corner. I’m sure that Christmas planning is in full swing, so I will keep this month’s report short and sweet.

The AGM was held last month. With changes happening to the board it brings a touch as sadness, but also excitement for the new members and the coming year. It’s with a heave heart we say goodbye to Lindl Webster, Rosslyn Price, David Mas and Barbara Davis, as they step down from the board. It has been a pleasure to work with all of them and they did a wonderful job of representing the DRTA. I wish them all the best for their future adventures. I would like to welcome
