Hi Members,

August is already upon us. And you are anything like me, you are wondering just where the year has gone. The Board has been hard at work to improve the associations for all the members.

One area that has been a major focus is marketing. Victorian State Rep Daniel Grey has taken on the task of leading the marketing team. Daniel has been liaising with 180 Degrees Consultancy to improve how the association connects with its members and the public via the website and social media platforms. 180 Degrees completed a review and supplied recommendations on changes that can be made. You have already seen some of the recommendations implemented, such as updating and streamlining the renewal process and increasing the renewals options. Over the coming months, you may see some further changes to the website and social media accounts as we continue to make

National Workshop Program, News and Updates with Steph
July was a busy month with Cognitive Stimulation Therapy workshops in both Brisbane and Melbourne. The general professional development workshop in Wollongong/ Woonona on the 30th June was also a great success- see the write ups below with a special thanks to Chris Grady from Regis Victoria who has done a Newsletter write up of his perspective of the CST Melbourne training so you can get an outside view into what to expect from the day.

Our Adelaide SA CST training on the 4th of August is open for registration and we have also added a CST training in Hamilton VIC on Friday 25th of August followed by a general Professional Development workshop on Monday the 28th of August. These workshops are all on line and open for registrations now.

In the past month I have been trying to get some more international contacts around the world. So last week I rang Western Samoa’s only nursing home, The Little Sisters of the Poor Nursing Home and spoke to Sr Aloysius, explaining to her that I was calling from South Australia in the hope of making contact with a fellow activity professional on behalf of DRTA. She said at the moment they don’t have an Activity Coordinator as the Sr that was doing this has since relocated, they are hopeful of getting another activities Sr soon. I did send her a more detailed email but as yet I haven’t heard back from her.
