Diversional & Recreation Therapy Australia News

Entries for October 2014

Hello Members,

I hope you enjoyed the bumper previous DTA Connections edition. The 2014 Conference was a fantastic time of friendship, networking, growth and development. Thank you to all the contributors and especially to the hard working office staff and newsletter volunteers for putting together the last edition under time constraints.

Planning is already underway for the 2015 DTA Conference to be held on the Gold Coast. I would encourage all of you to also begin planning your own calendars so you have the opportunity to meet with your fellow Diversional Therapists. I know you will be uplifted, enlightened and excited!

As I write, I am spending a few days with my Mum in Southern NSW. She lives in a small coastal town, Sussex Inlet, 3 hours south of Sydney. It has been great to have a few days with her, and has reminded me of the need to stop, relax and to take the time to reassess what is important in our busy lives.

I would like to pass this message on to all of you

Workshop - Shepparton, Victoria

Friday October 17th saw Diversional Therapists, Diversional Therapy assistants, Recreational Officers and Leisure and Lifestyle students from far and wide gather at Shepparton for a great day of learning, networking and the sharing of information. Delegates travelled from Swan Hill, Albury, Melbourne and of course the Goulburn Valley to the beautiful surrounds of The Connections functions rooms at Kids Town. The relaxed beautiful surrounds set the scene for a great day.

National Workshop Programme News and Updates with Steph

Hello everyone.
While this year’s workshops are almost done (we still have the Perth workshop on the 15th of November –see you there- and the Sydney workshop on the 18th of November – the day of the AGM- see further information below), I am busily looking forward to next year and looking at an incredible array of metro and rural areas to run our workshops.

My aim is to get as many people along as possible to enjoy the learning and interact and network with other people in this field. I have published below the list of probable workshops but am always happy to discuss hosting a workshop near you. The beauty of requesting and supporting a workshop through your networking groups is that we can work together to provide the exact information that your group wants to learn about. So have a discussion at your end of year Networking meetings and propose me a date and let’s see if we can bring a DTA workshop to you in 2015!
