Hi Members,

Winter has arrived and I hope everyone is staying warm. This weather always makes me want to snuggle up on the couch with a good book or movie. What is everybody’s favourite winter activity?

As it is now July (and I am left to ponder where the last 6 months went...), it’s the start of a new financial year and time to renew your membership. With recent updates to the website, allowing you to do it all online, renewing is easier than ever. There is the added option of paying for 1 or 2 years and updating all your details online. Just fill in the PD points summary, scan and email to Diana in the office and you are all done. Remember to keep the evidence of your PD points. In case your name is selected at random for the audit.

If you are interested in getting a head start on earning your PD points for this, why not join us for a CST training workshop in Melbourne – places still available. Go to the link below for bookings. Book in now to reserve your place as places are limited.

Conference planning is in full swing and is shaping up to be a great event in the DRTA year. Early bird registration is now available, but get in quick as it closes on 14th July, to receive the discount. The conference is the pinnacle event of the DRTA and a wonderful opportunity for members to come together to share knowledge and experience, network and meet new people and most importantly to have a good time. Brisbane is a wonderful city, with lots to see and do, and the beautiful Queensland weather should add to the conference experience. The conference brochure is now available on the website. The finishing touches are being made to the conference programme as we speak (or read) and will be available soon.

Don’t forget the Activities, Activities, Activities Workshop being held on the Thursday before conference. Register and come along to learn lots of exciting activities to do with your clients. Get in quick as place fill up fast!!

Last month Darren Robinson (International Liaison Board Member) and I participated in a Skype meeting with New Zealand Society of Diversional Therapy (NZSDT). From NZ was Vice President Orquidea Tamayo Mortera and past president Mary Gracie. Current president Gael Ansell was to also to join us, but unfortunately she was unwell. We discussed our MOU and improved ways we can work together to further benefit our members. DRTA and NZSDT will organise meeting twice yearly and attempt to have a face to face meeting once a year to either conference, to stay in contact. We will also pass on information regarding workshops, conferences, etc. to all members. We will also endeavour to have a representative from each board attend the others conference. Our next project will be identifying course and qualification equivalents to be able to become members of each other’s association.

Kind regards,
Kylie Rice
